Welch Family History
This interesting surname is of Anglo-Saxon and Northern European origins. Recorded in the Isles of Britain as a surname in the spellings of Walsh, Walshe, Welch, Welsh, Walch, Welshman and Walshman, it is or rather was, the word used by both the invading Anglo-Saxons of the 5th century a.d. onwards, and the later Vikings of the 7th century, to describe the local "natives" of the area that they were seeking to conquer.. The derivation is from "waelisc", meaning a stranger or foreigner, the word in its various spelling forms being found throughout Northern Europe.Select Audience

I am Amy Welch my father's name is Michael Henry Welch I don't know much about my family history because nobody on either side of my Dad's family and my mother's family refuse to talk about their family ancestry history . They tell me why do I want to know and that there is a reason why my great grandmother changed her maiden name and doesn't want anyone asking her questions . They are obviously hiding something from me . Maybe they are ashamed of their roots . But my grandmother's name is Marry her surname was Welch but she remarried and her surname now is Staricha my grandfather's name is Henrich / Henry Welch . I do have two uncle's Barney Welch and Fred Welch . I have a female cousin named Kelly Rice and a male cousin named Ricky Don
Welch
My story is bitter and sweet. I am a Welch by birth. I was born on Friday December 18, 1981 at Central General Hospital in Plainview NY in the early morning. I was born with blonde hair and blue eyes. I recently did a DNA test which lead me to being 98% Irish. My original Birth certificate says Baby girl Welch on it. I hope a Welch family member could shed some light into our family history. After 36 years of not knowing the truth, i was told 6 months ago and ever since then, I feel i am missing apart of whom i am. I am not mad i was adopted but i want to know my roots.

(Part 3 or 3) Guy’s sons will join the Welsh Adventurers and invade Ireland bringing their quest back to their native land. Discover their newly found untold story and how forgotten texts bring the story back to life. From the ebook, “The Tribe Within” learn how DNA unfolds this amazing tale and if you look in the right places, how history narrates this evidence. There is another written account of their story, but it is camouflaged in smoke and myth – it will become the tales of King Arthur. (Part 2 of 3) According to research, the Domnaill name is also found in Brittany, France. It is a very old name which appears in the 5th century Roman inscriptions as Dumnovellaunos in Brittany meaning “Deep Valour” equivalent to Irish Domhnaill. But how could this be? Recent discoveries from DNA testing are unlocking the migration patterns of Celtic tribes as late as 800 CE to 1200 CE. The Welch story begins in pre-history Ireland then moves to Brittany, France during the Dark Ages. Guy de Sancto Wallerico’s ancestor joined the Normans and invaded England in 1066. In 1128, he is granted lands in south Wales.

(Part 1 of 3) You may say the Welch surname is not of Irish origin, but Welch and Norman (from Normandy, France). But now DNA and some recorded history says otherwise. DNA tells us the origin of Welch is as Irish as they come. The Welch story [dominated by DNA tribal marker R1b-L513, Subgroup B2] can trace their origins to the Finn Valley in Donegal, Ireland from 50 BCE. Perhaps the journey begins with the Clanna Dedad; Deda, son of Sen or Deda Mac Sin. The Welch surname origin is from Clan Domnaill [DNA Tribe R1b-L513, Subgroup B1] and relations who remain in Ireland take the modern surname (O’)Donnelly and McDonald in Ireland.
