The year 2019 would see The Canteen turn 10! Opened in 2009, the aim of The Canteen was to bring ethically sourced, affordable food, locally sourced drinks and free live music to everybody every day. Since the beginning, The Canteen has taken deliciousness seriously and aspires to the Slow Food philosophy of “good, clean and fair” – food that’s delicious, with no nasties and a fair price to producers.

The constantly evolving menu includes a range of vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan options. The Canteen always tries to buy locally and seasonally to support UK producers and reduce the negative impacts of importing produce. The Canteen sources their vegetables from local farms where they can, meaning that the food they serve is as fresh and seasonal as it can be, and their salad leaf comes from a small farm in Frenchay called Edible Futures and is delivered by bicycle!

The Canteen is proud to be one of the only venues offering free live music every night of the week. With acts as diverse as Afro-Latin, Jazz, Hip-Hop and Folk, you really can find something for everyone. Be sure to check ahead and see what bands are playing.
